SAN FRANCISCO—On Friday, July 11, the San Francisco Fire Department reported that they responded to a structure fire at 2:11 p.m. on the 500 block of 26th Avenue.

Upon arrival, firefighters found an active fire venting from the rear second-story windows and spreading to the third story of a three-story, peaked-roof residential building. The fire caused damage to the exterior of an adjacent building, but firefighters were able to prevent it from spreading to the interior.

During the initial search for victims, firefighters discovered one adult occupant had succumbed to injuries related to the fire, resulting in one civilian fatality.

One firefighter sustained a minor hand injury. The fire was contained by 2:30. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
