ATHERTON—A fatal accident involving a pedestrian and a southbound Caltrain is currently being investigated as a possible suicide.
The accident, which occurred at the Atherton Caltrain station at 12:53 p.m., created huge delays for passengers traveling both ways through the weekend-only station.
The passengers of the train, which was carrying an estimated 1,200 people, were transported from the scene of the crash to their final destinations by SamTrans bus bridge.
The death, which is the 11th Caltrain death of 2015 has been termed a possible “intentional act” by Caltrain spokeswoman Tasha Bartholomew. No details on the identity of the victim has been released to the public.
