The double homicide took place on the morning of March 9th.

The arrest of Robinson and Morton was the culmination of a joint operation by the Daly City Police Department and San Francisco’s Police Gang Task Force.

Following the shooting of Gaines and Butler, who were ambushed while sitting in a parked car adjacent to the playground’s soccer fields, Robinson was arrested for driving a stolen vehicle believed to be connected to the double homicide.

Robinson subsequently pleaded not guilty to receiving stolen property and unlawful driving or taking of a vehicle.

To date, a motive for the murder of the teenage boys has not been made public. However, police do not believe there to be any connection between their killing and last weekend’s fatal shooting of a man near the park.

Any citizens with knowledge of either shooting are urged to contact the the SFPD anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 with SFPD at the beginning of the message.
