Alameda County, CA – On the afternoon of Saturday, May 9, 2026, a single-vehicle collision resulted in the death of a man after his car rolled approximately 200 feet down a hill, according to KRON.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place before 3:00 PM on Palomares Road in unincorporated Alameda County.
Authorities said a bystander reported the crash after witnessing the vehicle leave the road and roll down the hill, coming to rest in a nearby driveway. The Alameda County Fire Department had already arrived on scene when officers responded.
The driver was found ejected from the vehicle following the rollover. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No other occupants were in the vehicle.
Investigators noted that the driver may have suffered a medical episode before leaving the roadway. No additional details regarding the identity of the deceased had been released at the time of reporting. The investigation remains ongoing.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s comparative negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages through a wrongful death claim.
