SAN FRANCISCO—Officials from the San Francisco Fire Department responded to a fire near lower Nob Hill on Thursday, June 8. A first alarm fire broke out in one of the apartments at The Washington Apartments, located on 775 Post Street.
The SFFD determined that the fire was caused by a kitchen appliance in the apartment at approximately 11:45 p.m. Firefighters arrived on scene and successfully contained the fire at around 12:43 p.m.
It was first reported that two people were displaced by the fire, but the SFFD later indicated that four people were displaced because of the fire as of Friday, June 9.
Six individuals were assisted out of the building during the fire. One adult female, required hospitalization for smoke related issues, but here injuries were not life-threatening and she is expected to fully recover. One cate died as a result of the fire.
Tenants who were displaced because of the fire are being assisted by the American Red Cross. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
