Jurassic World

HOLLYWOOD—It looks like 2015 will indeed be a big year at the multiplex. For years, fans have been asking for another chapter in the dinosaur saga “Jurassic Park” and after nearly 14 years, the wait will be over with “Jurassic World” hitting theaters on June 12, 2015.

Not much is known about the premise of the sequel or its stars, but from the title alone it looks like this will be the biggest movie of the franchise. I’m hoping the 3D element is thrown in as it could be quite epic.  The one element that could take the franchise into a big direction is to elevate the scare factor.  Making the dinosaurs as real as possible is one thing, but to instill a fear into the audience the way Alfred Hitchcock did with “The Birds” would be exciting.

Moving on to further depths, audiences will have to wait a bit before they see Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow as the fifth installment of the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ franchise. The movie was expected to hit multiplexes on July 10, 2015, but has been pushed back a year because of script issues and budget concerns.

The film which is titled “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” has not released any plot tidbits to the public, but I do have my fingers crossed for the possibility of a reunion between Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom. I’m sorry the chemistry between those two and Depp was incredible. While it was lacking in the third picture, both Knightley and Bloom were M.I.A. in the fourth installment. Bringing those actors back could indeed bring some fresh life to the franchise that is in need of it.
