SAN FRANCISCO—The Northern California Corgi Convention (NorCal Corgi Con) will be returning to San Francisco this weekend on October 10. The event will take place at the beach near 1000 Great Highway, between Fulton Street and Stairwell 21 at 10:00 a.m. Corgi Con aims to bring together Corgi owners from near and far.
Last year, the convention took place on June 27 for a Corgi Summer Solstice Beach Day, with nearly 500 canine attendees present. Corgi owners were delighted as the Corgis played in the waves and battled against one another in competitions.
This October’s Corgi Con will host a costume contest, raffle, and Corgi race, with the grand prize being a Smart Feeder from Petnetio. Raffle prizes have been provided by Pupology, Happy Hands, Happy Dogs, Petco, and Irving Pet Hospital.
According to the Corgi Con’s event page, the last convention’s raffle proceeds and apparel revenue raised around $2,000 for “Corgi Aid” and “Muttville Senior Dog Rescue.” A Corgi Con crew sock campaign was also set up to benefit the non-profits. The event hopes to continue to grow their donations year after year.
All attendees are encouraged to dress their dogs up in costumes. Corgi mix-breeds are also allowed at the event.
Attendees can feel free to ask questions through the event’s Facebook page. Social media users are encouraged to use the hashtags “#CorgiCon” and “#NorCalCorgiCon” to document pictures of the October event on Instagram, or post pictures of the event on the event’s Yelp! page.
