SAN FRANCISCO—On Tuesday, February 4, the San Francisco Police Department reported that at approximately 3:56 p.m., a male suspect approached a marked patrol vehicle in the area of O’Farrell and Polk Streets. The suspect opened the driver’s side door and began physically assaulting both officers without provocation.

While officers attempted to detain the suspect, multiple units responded to the scene. With the help of other officers, the suspect was detained, and charges are pending at this time. Details regarding the suspect have not been disclosed to the public.

Paramedics arrived on the scene to render aid to both officers. Both officers were transported to a local hospital where they are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
