SANTA ROSA—An elderly man was found dead in his single family home after it caught fire on Wednesday,. February 20.

The Press Democrat reported that the victim, Dennis Marino, 71, was found laying in the kitchen of the Duer Road home. The cause of the fire has not yet been identified but the Rincon Valley Fire Protection District noted the fire started in another room close to the kitchen and could have possibly ignited by electrical wiring.

Neighbors identified him as Dennis Marino, he lived by himself and had a distant relationship with neighbors, explaining that he struggled with smoking and drinking. Other neighbors reported seeing the entire roof in flames.

Anita Levine Goldberg, Marino’s neighbor told The Press Democrat that “Our biggest concern was he would burn down the house.”

Marino’s son Mike Marino, identified the body of his father.

“He had a great sense of humor,” Marino told The Press Democrat. “He could make anyone laugh.”
