LOS ANGELES—Kobe Bryant suffered a season ending injury during the Golden State Warriors game. The injury occurred during the end of the fourth quarter with only three minutes to go in the game. An MRI on Saturday revealed Bryant had suffered a torn Achilles tendon.

He received surgery for the torn Achilles on Saturday, April 13. Bryant is scheduled to be out 6-9 months due to the surgery, but the Lakers have high hopes he may return by the start of next season. His longtime trainer Gary Vitti said after Lakers practice that Bryant will be immobile for about a month.

The players on the team and players around the NBA are supporting Bryant and have faith he will return at the high level he plays. Former Lakers coach Phil Jackson spoke on the injury over twitter “if he had gone to the bench after the 2nd mishap? Like Rose of The Bulls one can guess, but what’s done is done. Reality not maybe is zen.”Jacksonindicated that if he would have played less maybe this wouldn’t have occurred comparing Bryant’s injury to Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose.

Kobe Bryant averaged over 45 minutes a game during the last seven games trying to get the Los Angeles Lakers (43-37) into the playoffs. He also averaged 27.4 points per game this season along with six assists and five rebounds.

The Los Angeles Lakers are currently the No. 8 seed in the western conference. They are currently only a game ahead of the Utah Jazz with two crucial home games left in the season against the San Antonio Spurs and the Houston Rockets.
