SAN FRANCISCO—A man from Concord was arrested in connection to the Hunters Point homicide that happened on August 10. According to a press release from the San Francisco Police Department, on  August 10 at approximately 9:28 p.m., officers responded to a ShotSpotter notification in the area of the 1000 block of Oakdale Avenue.

They discovered Dietrich Whitley, 34, with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest.

Officers attempted lifesaving measures until paramedics arrived on the scene. Whitley was taken to a hospital but succumbed to injuries he sustained.

Authorities arrested Sauntek Harris, 38, on Tuesday, August 13. He was charged with homicide and being a felon in possession of a firearm. 

This was the first murder in the month of August in San Francisco and the 24th murder in 2019. The last murder in the SF region occurred on July 9, when 44-year-old Eric Wilson was shot and killed in the Bayview District.
