SAN FRANCISCO—A holiday-themed park at the San Francisco Civic Center will be the city’s newest addition for holiday activities this year..
The winter themed park will open on Friday, November 30 and will include a 6,000-square-foot ice rink and lighted forest. It will be open from noon to 10 p.m. until January 6, 2019. Food and drinks will be available for purchase for patrons.
The park was inspired by the Wiener Eistraum in Vienna, Austria. Wiener Eistraum has hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. The Winter Park Civic Center is expected to draw crowds to the region.
Willy Bietak Productions and the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department officials have indicated that the park is one of the efforts to improve Civic Center and make it family-friendly.
Events and programs will be offered to benefit Tenderloin residents, including a family appropriate drag show, free admission for students of Tenderloin schools, and programs for low-income and family residents. Tickets start at $15 and will be available at www.winterparkicerinksf.com starting October 15.
