Bush Looks To Resurrect Career In SF

SAN FRANCISCO—Hungry to prove he still has the explosive instincts and versatility that earned him the Heisman Trophy in 2005, running back Reggie Bush has officially signed with the San Francisco 49ers.

Bush is coming-off a 2014 season plagued by a nagging ankle injury, one which kept him to a career-low 297 yards last season. Expected to be a dynamic piece within a dynamic Detroit offense, Bush appeared in only 11 games, assuming a reserve role behind the bruising Joique Bell.

A healthy Bush could add a dimension of speed that the Niners offense lacked in 2014.

In San Francisco, Bush isn’t expected to be a featured runner, but rather, a third-down back capable of spelling Carlos Hyde.

It’s a role Bush has always excelled at, even dating back to his collegiate days at USC, where he formed a thunder-lightning combination with Lendale White. In 2015, a Niners brass can only hope he will do the same for Hyde, giving the San Francisco offense a dimension it lacked in 2014.

The exact numbers on Bush’s contract have yet to be released.
