HOLLYWOOD—If there is one thing soap operas are notorious for doing it’s building up to an epic climax. With November sweeps just a mere month away, “General Hospital” is pulling out all the stops to drop major bombshells the audience has been waiting for characters on the show to discover.

For starters, it’s been nearly a year of secret-keeping for Maxie (Kristen Storms) who has kept BFF Lulu (Emme Rylan) and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) that the baby she carried and gave to them was really her child with Spinelli (Bradford Anderson).

The fireworks during the confrontation scene at baby Connie’s christening at the church were epic. Rylan delivered some must see acting that will be sure to draw some fervor for an Emmy nomination for the actress.  The scenes were beyond tense, as both Lulu and Dante came to the stunning realization that the baby they had become attached to for months, a baby that they bonded with was someone else’s; it’s a devastating blow to say the least.

A bigger question to answer is the emotional fallout that Maxie and Spinelli will endure from their friends and family who are sure to raise hell; I’m expecting a bit of vengeance from Lulu and Dante, just saying. In other, “GH” news sure to please super fans is the return of fan favorite Robin (Kimberly McCullough) who made a triumphant return to the series after being M.I.A. for months. When it was revealed that Robin who was believed to have perished in a hospital explosion was very much alive and being held captive, was a jaw-dropper; I don’t think anyone could have expected that twist.

For months we’ve known she was being held captive by Dr. Lisa Obrecht; the only person aware of her survival is Dr. Obrecht, Jerry Jacks and her father, Robert, who happens to be in a coma. It looks like Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) is super close to discovering the truth, but will he discover Robin before his illness takes over?  The writers have already promised some explosions in the coming weeks as Robin’s story unravels.

Just imagine the reaction of her mother Anna (Finola Hughes) when she discovers her daughter alive or the look on Patrick’s face when he sees his ‘dead’ wife return from the grave. That will indeed complicate factors for his relationship with Sabrina and Britt. Robin is Patrick’s one true love so will he have any trepidation if she comes back to him. One thing is certain Robin’s return to Port Charles will indeed be epic storytelling.

On the mob front, the Jerome family continues to place the puzzle pieces to ensure their plan to take down Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) comes to fruition.  Ava (Maura West) has already made a few enemies with Carly (Laura Wright) for sleeping with her son Morgan (Bryan Craig) who also happens to be the fiancé of Kiki (Kristen Alderson).  How can you explain to your daughter that you slept with her hubby?  Derek (William DeVry) is in a bit of hot water keeping up the ruse that Julian Jerome is dead and he is Derek Wells, but people, notably Duke (Ian Buchanan) and Anna are hot on his coattails. I can only imagine the fallout when Derek’s true identity is revealed and Sam (Kelly Monaco) and Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) discovered the man that saved Danny’s life is her father and ex-lover!

The building blocks are definitely in place for a November that is sure to bring plenty of gunfire, explosions, revelations and perhaps a death or two.  Not to mention we still don’t know who killed Connie, not buying A.J. that’s too easy.  Any guesses?  “Genera lHospital” airs weekdays at 2 p.m. on ABC.
