SAN FRANCISCO—A parking altercation near Lake Merced on Saturday, August 30, 2025 evening at approximately 7:44 p.m. led to a wild goose chase by police officers of the San Francisco Police Department.

There were potential reports of gunshots on the 500 block of John Muir Drive. Before reaching the scene, the police officers saw that the shooter was leaving the scene.

Although the officers attempted to make a traffic stop for the shooter, he refused to comply. Instead, he just left the scene. Therefore, the police officers were in hot pursuit of the driver. The chase ended about four miles away where the police officers lost the vehicle at Alemany Boulevard.
