SAN FRANCISCO—This shooting happened early Tuesday evening at around 5:48 p.m. on the 1500 block of Burke Avenue on September 9, 2025, in the India Basin in the Bayview-Hunters Point District.
Police officers of the San Francisco Police Department were dispatched to the scene, finding one victim suffering from a gunshot wound while three others were already being attended to at a local hospital upon arrival of the police officers. Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) took the remaining victim to a local hospital. Five others went to the hospital on their own.
At about 6:30 that same evening, police officers apprehended a man shooting outside Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, but it was not being connected to the India Basin shootout earlier that same evening.
Two more individuals were found to be in the crosshairs of the India Basin shooting, leaving all six wounded. They all sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The community where the shooting took place is now feeling stunned. As the investigation is ongoing into this incident, police patrol has been increased. With a dozen gun-related violent acts and two deaths in 2025, residents of this neighborhood are feeling quite uncomfortable with the situation.
