LOS ANGELES—After acquiring Bokondji “Boko” Imama from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for a seventh-round selection in the 2018 NHL Draft, the Kings have signed the 20 year-old forward to a three-year entry level contract. The trade was contingent upon Imama signing with the Kings.
Most recently (during the 2016-17 season), the 6 foot and 1 inch tall, 221-pound left winger played for the Saint John Sea Dogs of the QMJHL. He served as the assistant captain and appeared in 66 games during the regular season, totaling 55 points which were comprised of a career peaking 41 goals and 14 assists. He also received a plus-11 rating and 105 penalty minutes.
With 41 goals, Imama ranked first on his team and was tied for seventh in the league. He attained 14 power play goals, after which he tied for first on the team and sixth in the league. Additionally, he ranked fifth in points and reached career-peaking numbers of games played, goals, assists, points and penalty minutes.
During the playoffs last season, Imama appeared in 18 games and attained 15 points (eight goals and seven assists), 22 penalty minutes and a plus-17 rating. After winning the QMJHL Championship, the Sea Dogs advanced to the semi-final Memorial Cup, where they lost to the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).
In his five seasons with the QMJHL, Imama spent three seasons the Baie-Comeau Drakkar from 2012 to 2015. Between the Drakkar and the Sea Dogs (with whom he spent the 2015 and 2016 seasons), he has played a total of 276 career games, posting 71 goals, 123 points, 463 penalty minutes and a plus-19 rating. He has appeared in 52 playoff games with both QMJHL teams, posting 24 points (comprised of nine goals and 15 assists).
