BERKELEY—Berkeley police were called after a property owner discovered a dead body on his property, Saturday, January 14.

The body was found at a home located just across the street from Berkeley High School.

Around 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, authorities received a report of a woman’s body found in the 2200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way, said Berkeley Police Sgt. Andrew Frankel.

Frankel reported that the woman appeared to be camping on the property at the time of her death and was most likely homeless.

The police are currently investigating the cause of the woman’s death. The Alameda County Coroner’s Office will not be releasing the identity of the woman until her next of kin has been notified.
