Napa County, CA—On Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 2:20 p.m., a motorcycle rider died after colliding with a Chevrolet and becoming pinned underneath the vehicle, according to KRON

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place near the 1700 block of Wooden Valley Road.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on a Triumph motorcycle when they lost control while navigating a curve. The motorcycle slid into the Chevrolet’s right front tire, and the rider became trapped beneath the vehicle.

Both the driver of the Chevrolet and a passenger, along with a witness, attempted to lift the vehicle to free the rider. Despite their efforts, the rider succumbed to his injuries before emergency personnel arrived.

The motorcyclist was declared dead at the scene. Their identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

Wooden Valley Road was closed in both directions until about 5 p.m. for investigation and cleanup. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Wrongful Death Claims & Comparative Liability

Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Liability rule, several parties can share partial responsibility.  Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
