HOLLYWOOD—Well, a little fish broke some epic records at the box-office this weekend, as the sequel to the 2003 hit “Finding Nemo” took full control of the box-office. That’s right, “Finding Dory” broke box-office records taking in $136.2 million over the weekend, besting the record previously held by “Shrek the Third” which earned over $121 million in 2007.

Rather “Dory” is able to hold its grip on the box-office next weekend is still up for debate, as a pretty big sequel is expected to hit the multiplex. Landing in second place was the action-comedy “Central Intelligence” starring Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart with an impressive $34.5 million. Nabbing third place was last week’s champ, “The Conjuring 2” with $15.6 million. It’s a steep drop, but I’m certain the horror flick will cross the $100 million mark at the domestic box-office in the next week or so.

“Now You See Me 2” landed in fourth place with $9.7 million to bring its cumulative box-office receipts to over $41 million. Yeah, it’s safe to say this sequel is no sleeper like its predecessor. Rounding out the top five at the box-office was the video game adaptation “Warcraft” with $6.5 million for a domestic box-office total of $37.7 million. This weekend sees the release of a sequel more than 20 years in the making as “Independence Day: Resurgence” arrives in theaters. I mean seriously, what took this movie so long to arrive in theaters?
