SAN FRANCISCO—A former football player – offensive tackle of the San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders, Kwame Harris, 33, was arrested in San Francisco on Sunday, April 5 on DUI charges and biting a police officer.

Police officers on patrol were flagged down around 7:30 p.m. and were told of a man who appeared to need an assistance. Police found the man, Kwame Harris, sleeping in a running car, black Audi sedan, that was parked halfway into a driveway.

When police woke him up, Harris was unsteady which led police officers to suspect that he was driving under the influence. The police called medics to the scene who established that Harris was high on drugs.

Resisting arrest, Harris tried to bite one of the officers, who was not hurt. The NFL star was subdued and taken into custody. He is now being charged with DUI, hit-and-run and aggravated assault.

Investigators suspect Harris in two hit-and-run crashes that occurred earlier in the evening. The first crash occurred at the intersection of Hyde St. and Broadway St, where Harris’s car collided with a silver sedan. The other collision was on 1700 block of Harrison and involved an RV vehicle.

Back in 2013, Harris was found guilty of misdemeanor domestic violence for beating up his ex-boyfriend.

He played with the 49ers for five seasons starting in 2003, and one season, before retiring in 2010, with the Oakland Raiders.
