GLENDALE, CA—Ja’Net DuBois, the actress known for her role on “Good Times,” died unexpectedly on Monday, February 17 inside her Glendale home at the age of 74.

DuBois passed away in her sleep. The actress was known mainly for her role as neighbor Willona Woods in the 70s TV sitcom, “Good Times,” which ran from 1974-1979. She also co-wrote the theme song, “Movin’ on Up” for the hit TV series, “The Jeffersons,” which ran for 10 seasons from 1975-1985.

She recently attended a fan event in Hollywood a couple weeks prior to her passing. She appeared in movies such as, ”I’m Gonna Git You Sucka,” “Tropic Thunder” and “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.”

The actress was born in Brooklyn, New York, where she started her career in theater and appeared in the 1964 Broadway musical “Golden Boy” with Sammy Davis Jr. and Louis Gossett Jr. In addition, she also won two Emmy awards for her voice-over work on “The PJs” TV series. She is survived by her three children.
