SAN FRANCISCO—UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital plans to have a heroic staff of window washers scale and rappel down the grime-ridden walls of the hospital for children to have a spectacle of the crusaders on Monday, September 27.

A crew of 13 superheroes will be making their descent down the sixth floor of the UCSF Children’s Hospital starting at 12:45 p.m., at 1975 Fourth Street. The superheroes will be stopping through the hospital on the fifth floor terrace between 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to meet with the young patients and their families.

According to the UCSF spokeswoman, Juliana Bunim, the superheroes who will be making an appearance will include: Wonder Woman, Spiderman, Supergirl, Batman, Robin, Ironman, Thor, The Flash, the Red Power ranger, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Leonardo and Shrek.

The UCSF Children’s Hospital planned a heroic superhero window-washing for patients earlier this year in April. Superman, Red Power Ranger, and Robin were participants, and brought huge smiles to dozens of children.

The heroic window-washing was part of a nation-wide trend that started at children’s hospitals on National Superhero Day as part of an effort brighten the days of the hospital’s child patients. So far, window-washing crews in Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Alabama, Indiana, Nebraska, Louisiana, North Carolina, and Iowa have participated in addition to California.
