SAN FRANCISCO—The San Francisco Police Department disclosed on November 27 that a subject was arrested while in possession of a loaded ghost gun.
The SFPD reported on November 23, officers from the Tenderloin Station were informed of a wanted subject identified as John Moye, 36. Officers were advised Moye was possibly near the 200 block of Hyde Street driving a motorcycle.
An SFPD crime bulletin detailed Moye evading capture for two outstanding felony warrants out of county and his history of firearm possession.
Officers responded to the 200 block of Hyde Street and spotted the motorcycle parked alongside a vehicle with two subjects, one later confirmed to be Moye sitting in the driver seat. Officers approached the vehicle and observed the wanted subject and items that led officers to believe a firearm may have been in the vehicle. Officers detained Moye and the male subject.
Authorities located a loaded ghost gun in Moyes possession, unfired cartridges, and firearm accessories which officers seized. Officers determined the vehicle was reported stolen and developed probable cause to arrest Moye. He was booked into San Francisco County Jail for the following charges: carrying a loaded firearm on the person or in vehicle while in public place (25850(A) PC (4counts)), a person is guilty of carrying concealed firearm (25400(a)(1) PC (4 counts)), prohibits the possession of ammunition if a convicted felon (30305 (a)(1) PC), false Impersonation (529(A)(3) PC), identity theft (530.5 PC), burglary tools ( 466 PC), and two active felony warrants.
The SFPD is still investigating the case. Anyone with details is asked to contact the SFPD at 1-415-575-4444 or Text a Tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD.
