Johnny Depp May Face Jail Over Dogs

AUSTRALIA—Actor Johnny Depp, 51, illegally transported his two dogs, Pistol and Boo to Australia and may face jail time for his actions.

If the incident is brought to the court’s attention, Depp could possibly face up to 10 years in prison or be fined of a maximum amount of $340,000 if found guilty.

Depp did not obtain appropriate permits and an exam that was necessary to prove that his pets were not infected with diseases.

Australia’s agriculture minister Barnaby Joyce said in a statement: “There is a process, you get the permits, they go into quarantine, then you can have them. If we start letting movie stars, even though they’ve been the sexiest man alive twice, to come into our nation, why don’t we just break the laws for everybody?”

Depp recently played as Charlie Mortdecai, a British aristocrat and an art dealer in the 2015 film “Mortdecai,” which bombed at the box-office. The actor recently married actress Amber Heard. He has two children with singer, model and actress Vanessa Paradis.

He is currently shooting the fifth installment in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise: “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.” The movie also stars Orlando Bloom and is slated to arrive in theaters in 2017.
