HOLLYWOOD—February is here and that can mean only one thing, its sweeps!  That means juicy storylines and surprises are a bound on some of your favorite soaps in the coming month.  For starters “The Young and the Restless” is introducing a new face toGenoaCity. Steve Burton joins the cast as Dylan McAvoy, a former flame from Avery’s (Jessica Collins) past.  How will the high-powered attorney react to seeing a face that she thought was dead, and what stress will her former love place on her new relationship with Nick (Joshua Morrow)? Only time will tell.

Victor (Eric Braeden) continues his battle to gain control of his company Newman Enterprises from his son Adam (Michael Muhney). Just as his relationship with Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) falls apart, Sharon (Sharon Case) is waiting to pick up the pieces.  Also things are heating up between Tyler (Redaric Williams) and Lily (Christel Khalil).  She’s married to Cane (Daniel Goddard), but her attraction to Tyler is difficult to resist, trouble in paradise is brewing, just as more secrets about Tyler and Leslie’s (Angell Conwell) past is revealed involving Congressman Marcus Wheeler.  Also expect the Lauren (Tracy E. Bregman), Michael (Christian LeBlanc), Fen and Jamie saga to continue to unravel as Michael’s instincts involving his son come to light.

Over on “GeneralHospital” a few familiar faces will be returning to their original stomping grounds in Port Charles.  Up first is the return of Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) to save his love Lucy (Lynn Herring) from her insane theory about vampires.  Just what hi-jinks the duo will get into and why they’ve been apart will be answered.  That’s not the only familiar face surfacing on the canvas as Frisco (Jack Wagner) turns up in PC on February 4.  Yes, that’s right, people have been eagerly waiting to see Frisco back into the foray for years and now Felicia, Mac and Maxie will indeed get a blast from the past.  Exactly what brings him back into town will have fans eagerly awaiting the reveal.

Just when you thought “GH” couldn’t bring back anymore star power, soap alum Genie Francis will returns as Laura.  She has always been the love of Luke’s (Anthony Geary’s) life.  Exec Frank Valentini promises that Laura returns to town with a secret; start making guesses as to what that is.  Laura’s return will definitely impact the love triangle between Anna (Finola Hughes), Duke (Ian Buchanan), Robert (Tristan Rogers) and Luke.  Considering Luke has just professed his love for Anna, that love is nothing compared to what he feels for Laura.  Just when the drama seems to be reaching an all-time high, Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) also returns to town on February 18.  Scott has always been a rascal, which means he’s up to no good.  Can you imagine Scott, Luke and Laura all in the same room?

The continuing love triangle between Patrick, Sabrina and Britt seems to be coming to a head after Emma’s disappearance thanks to the wicked Britt.  I think Patrick has another Lisa Niles on his hands so he better be careful.  While Patrick and Sabrina get closer, where does that place his “presumed dead” wife Robin who is being held captive by Jerry Jacks?  She’ll be making her way back to Port Charles I’m hoping, but that might not happen the show’s 50th anniversary in April and I expect fireworks along the way.

As for you “Days of Our Lives” fans expect the Sami (Alison Sweeney) to continue to bounce between Rafe (Galen Gering) and EJ (James Scott). As much as you want Sami to be with the good guy, she always ends up choosing the bad guy.  As if she didn’t have enough drama herself, she’ll immerse herself in Will’s (Chandler Massey) impending baby drama involving Gabi (Camlia Banus), Chad (Casey Jon Deidrick) and Sonny.  Will he or won’t he keep his parental rights?  Only time will tell.  Nicole (Arianne Zucker) is back to her old tricks as she goes toe-to-toe with Kristen (Eileen Davidson).  It’ll be over Nicole’s dead body before she allows Kristen to ruin Eric’s (Greg Vaughn) family.

The Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin), Daniel (Shawn Christian) and Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) love triangle continues to complicate matters especially with the news that Daniel is indeed Parker’s father.  No matter how Jennifer looks at things, Chloe will always be an apart of Daniel’s life.  Just how far Chloe will go to secure that Daniel returns to her is up in the air.  Abigail (Kate Mansi) continues to dabble with two guys: Chad and Cameron.  Just who she picks will continue to unravel in the coming weeks.  Also expect John to pull out all the stops to save his marriage to Marlena and to prevent his son Brady from making a terrible mistake by staying involved with Kristen.

The next four weeks are sure to be full confrontations, revelations and drama to keep any soap fan glued to their seat.  Even though February sweeps are short-lived before you know it May sweeps will be right around the corner. “The Young and the Restless” airs weekdays at 12:30 p.m. on CBS, “Days of Our Lives airs weekdays at 1:00 p.m. on NBC and “General Hospital” airs weekdays at 2:00 p.m. on ABC.
