HOLLYWOOD—Last week “PLL” fanatics were delivered a fatal blow when Spencer (Troian Bellisario) discovered that her beau, Toby (Keegan Allen) is apart of the “A” team and has been tormenting her and her friends. The aftermath of that discovery was remnant in “Out of the Frying Pan Into the Inferno” which saw Spencer attempting to cover up the secret.

The episode opened with Spencer and Toby getting hot and heavy, transitioning to Spencer being choked by someone in a black hoodie. Luckily it turned out to be just a dream.  Aria (Lucy Hale) and Emily (Shay Mitchell) discussed telling Spencer the details about Melissa (Torrey DeVitto) being at Alison’s house the night she disappeared. Emily received a package from Nate that contained memorabilia about Alison that brought up old memories, and important information about Alison!  Mama Marin (Laura Leighton) became concerned about Hanna’s (Ashley Benson) wellbeing at school.  Her prying seemed to create a bit of tension between the mother and daughter.

Bryon (Chad Lowe) attempted to mend fences with his daughter who became perceptive to her father’s concerns.  Spencer had difficulty talking about Toby with the other liars, while the other girls noticed something off about their BFF.  Emily showed Aria and Hanna a notebook that contained information about Ali and some other person, a discussion about “the beach hottie” and conversations about Toby.  Hanna overhead a conversation with Paige (Lindsey Shaw) and Caleb (Tyler Blackburn), where she learned that her boyfriend was the one who placed the brain in Mona’s (Janel Parrish) locker.

A flashback revealed Alison paying Toby a visit in prison where he revealed to her that he did not write those threatening notes to her from “A.”  Toby threatened wanting to do harm to Alison and the other liars for the trauma that he suffered. Spencer told Emily that she broke up with Toby, but forgot to mention he’s apart of the “A” team.  She went on the defensive with Ella (Holly Marie Combs) as she attempted to leave school early.

Spencer showed up to the park berating Ezra (Ian Harding) revealing the bombshell to him that he has a son, only to discover that she had been set up by “A;” Aria never sent Spencer that text!  Surprise, surprise the mysterious Detective Wilden (Bryce Johnson) popped up at the precinct.  He hasn’t been around for awhile, which means he’s up to something.  He’s always around when something bad takes place. Detective Wilden continued to pry with Mrs. Fields about Emily’s wellbeing.  He revealed to Mrs. Fields that he took the life of someone in self-defense, but it had a profound impact on him.  I’m not buying that story, Pam better watch her back.

Ezra was not too pleased to speak with Aria and to discover that she’d been hiding from him that he has a son for weeks.  Relationships are falling apart left and right for the liars.  As a defeated Aria realized her relationship was over, she received a menacing text from “A” letting her know that they’re responsible for the chaos involving Ezra.

Spencer and Aria discussed the fallout of the Ezra event, which showed Spencer continuing to unravel.  Surprise, surprise CeCe (Vanessa Ray) is back in the mix of things as Emily confronted her about the photo of her and Alison. Another flashback revealed CeCe talking to a worried Alison who may have been pregnant!  Major bombshell, didn’t see this coming in a million years.  Alison was indeed scared for her life, which rocked Emily to the core when she heard the news.

Hanna decided to investigate Paige to see just what the duo was planning and found herself being hit on by other girls at a club. Emily divulged to Aria that Alison may have been pregnant and decided to turn in Ali’s notebook to authorities. At the station, she ran into Hanna who was not too pleased to see Detective Wilden and was stunned to see Detective Wilden was also atCapeMaywith Alison!  I knew it!  Did Detective Wilden get Alison pregnant? I’m guessing it’s a 99% chance those two hooked up.  Things are so twisted on this series! The adults are to not be trusted; you can only trust the liars.

It was tough to watch an emotional Spencer have to grapple with the betrayal that she has encountered.  She came face-to-face with a private investigator who she asked to follow Toby and to find where the “key” with the initial ‘A’ leads to.  She’s done playing games and wants to get to the truth.  It was funny to see Ashley concerned that her daughter might be a lesbian.  Ezra packed his bags and told Aria that he’d be leaving town for a few weeks.  It was bittersweet to see Ezra break down in tears.  This secret has really rocked him to the core. Sorry Ezria fans, it looks like this relationship might be over. At the “A” lair someone dressed in a red coat is seen torching the head of a doll that looks to represent “Hanna.”  This “A” is not playing around, and Hanna better watch her back.

Next week, the girls will have to decide rather to attend Alison’s memorial and it appears Emily will uncover a memory that she had buried away.  Wow, this series is so juicy!  Until next week “PLL” fanatics!
