SAN FRANCISCO—On Tuesday, April 15, the SFPD announced that a suspect was arrested in connection to a fatal shooting in the Tenderloin District.

The SFPD reported on April 14, at approximately 5:29 p.m., officers responded to Turk and Mason Streets regarding a shooting. Officers arrived on scene and located a victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers rendered aid, and medics arrived on the scene, but the victim was declared deceased. The name and age of the victim has not been disclosed to the public.

Shortly after the homicide transpired, officers quickly took the suspect into custody. The suspect was identified as Lewis Jefferson Butler, 23.  He was booked at San Francisco County Jail on charges of homicide (187(a)PC), felon in possession of a firearm (29800(a)(1)PC), battery on a peace officer (243(b)PC), resisting arrest (148(a)(1)PC) as well as an outstanding warrant from Alameda County.
