HOLLYWOOD HILLS—Hip hop artist Young Dolph was shot in Hollywood on Tuesday, September 26. According to reports, the Memphis rapper was shot outside The Shoe Palace at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue.

Young Dolph and three men were involved in an argument Tuesday at around 1:30 p.m. before the shooting transpired. The altercation escalated into a physical fight and the attackers forced Young Dolph onto the ground. One of the men discharged a firearm at the rapper who was struck twice, but was able escape by running inside a local business. He was transported to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries, but in in critical condition.

Two of the assailants ran and a third drove away in a gold Cadillac Escalade before abandoning the car and fleeing on foot a short distance away.

Authorities have charged Corey McClendon, a friend of rapper Yo Gotti, with attempted murder in connection to the shooting. Yo Gotti and Young Dolph are in the midst of long-standing feud and tensions between the two musicians have been ongoing for at least 3 years. Police are still searching for the two other suspects involved in the shooting.

Young Dolph was previously involved in a shooting where assailants fired more than 100 bullets into his bulletproof SUV. His first album, “King of Memphis” was released in 2016.
