SAN FRANCISCO—President Barack Obama is scheduled to headline his first Democratic Fundraiser for next year’s midterm election in April. The fundraiser in San Francisco will take place on April 3 in order to raise money for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

The event will be a $5,000-per-person cocktail reception at the home of Kat Taylor and Tom Steyer, a former hedge fund manager, in addition to a $32,500-per-person dinner which will be hosted by philanthropists Ann and Gordon Getty. Obama will also attend fundraisers in the Bay Area on April 4 for the Democratic National Committee.

According to the invitation, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi will also be attending the April fundraisers in San Francisco. Vice President Joe Biden and first lady Michelle Obama are also expected to have campaign events for Democrats in upcoming months.

The president will headline a minimum of 14 fundraisers this year for the party’s House and Senate candidates, ten of which will be located outside of Washington D.C. Gaining control of the House of Representatives and holding the majority of Senate in 2014 will allow Obama more opportunities to pass legislation that Republicans tend to oppose.

Congressional Republicans have claimed Obama is more focused on regaining Democratic control of the House in the midterm elections than trying to find bipartisan solutions for the nation’s problems. The president has denied such claims during private meetings with lawmakers this week on Capitol Hill.
