SAN FRANCISCO—Pioneer Seafood’s, a seafood supplier, started a home delivery service to help people with the struggles of the coronavirus. In July 2020, commercial fisherman Giuseppe “Joe” Pennisi started to help the Bay area residents by delivering fresh fish to homes.

His father Giovanni Pennisi moved from Cecila, Italy in the early 1900’s and was a commercial fisherman in the Monterey Bay. In 2000, Joe Pennisi purchased his boat, The Pioneer, and launched Pioneer Seafood’s. Pennisi started fishing in California when he was 7 years old with his father.

Their business goal is to catch fresh fish and sell it directly to the customer. Joe even lets people on his boat to show them how to flay a fish.

Joe also became a philanthropist; he started to donate fresh fish to charity. For the past four years Glides Memomorial church has received 2500 pounds of fish from Pioneer Seafood every other week to feed the public, acording to CBS San Francisco.

If you’re interested in getting some of Joe’s fresh fish, he docks at the Redwood City Port. They will be selling fish on Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 6pm. It’s a system of first come, first served.
