HOLLYWOOD—Audiences have been eagerly waiting more than 3 months to find out “What’s In Wilden’s Trunk?” It was a startling revelation that viewers didn’t expect in the season four opener “A Is For A-L-I-V-E.”  The contents in Wilden’s trunk were none other than a PIG!  That was such a gimmick to make us hold out that long for a dead pig, but the writers had to keep the viewers on edge. Mona (Janel Parrish) proved her loyalty to Hanna (Ashley Benson) by helping save her mother, and the liars began going after Mona as she tormented their weaknesses.

Mona revealed she didn’t pull the car out the lake. She revealed that Shana (Ariel) and Jenna (Tammin Sursok) are afraid of Melissa (Torrey DeVitto). She revealed that Lucas gave Emily the massage.  Mona revealed quite a bit of information to the liars about her previous misdeeds and the residents of Rosewood. The one question the lairs wanted answers to, Mona was not able to reveal as she did not know who pushed Ian off the bell tower. I have my theories on who may have committed the crime and it is someone very close to Spencer (Troian Bellisario).

In the aftermath of the previous night’s events, the liars were stunned to see Detective Wilden’s dead body!  Was this apart of “A’s” master plan?  The pig just appeared to be a ploy to set the liars up.  Toby (Keegan Allen) spied on the aftermath of the lodge fire.

Inside Mona’s lair, the liars began to decipher what took place.  Mona revealed that Detective Wilden and the Queen of Hearts were behind the plan to push Aria off the ghost train.  She dropped a bombshell indicating that the Queen of Hearts was none other than Melissa, Spencer’s sister!  Before her identity could be confirmed, the files from Mona’s computer were deleted.  I’m going to say that wasn’t a coincidence. If Melissa did indeed try to kill her own sister, she wins the award for being the sister from hell. Remember, this is Mona we’re talking about so she could be lying.  If it wasn’t Melissa, I’m dying to know who could be working alongside the duplicitous cop.

The liars came face-to-face with younger versions of themselves.  The kids mentioned they received the dolls from “Alison.”  “She’s like Hannibal Lecter smart. She’s been doing this a long time,” said Hanna.  A sensational line of the night!

Hanna and Emily (Shay Mitchell) were stunned to hear from Pam (Nia Peeples) that Mrs. DiLaurentis is moving back to Rosewood. Spencer returned to her family’s lodge with Toby in tow to help scour for evidence.  They spotted someone else inside the place, but they got away before the couple could spot them.

Emily delivered a basket to Mrs. D who sparked a bit of conversation, just as Emily was stunned to find herself inside Alison’s room and her mother keeping all of her daughter’s treasures.  Hanna met with Mona to help dispose of the trailer with all of the evidence. It was a bonding moment for the former BFF’s.

Ezria came face-to-face with each other since breaking up; it was an awkward moment, but the former lovebirds are still smitten for one another. Love conquers all in due time. She even called him Mr. Fitz. Spencer discovered that Wilden was shot multiple times.  The little detective attempted to decipher just what “A’s” next plan was. Toby received a startling text about missing someone, wonder who that individual could be?

Aria (Lucy Hale) was a bit on edge about the school principal watching her every move and her world was rocked when the principal presented her with photos proving her relationship with Mr. Fitz and the sight of her seeing her former lover being escorted out the school in handcuffs was stunning. Surprise, it was a dream sequence.  Good one, writers of PLL, you had me fooled. Paige and Emily shared some alone time where they discussed their future, as Paige shared news about getting into Stanford.

Mona proved her loyalty by handing over the computer chip of the video of Ashley striking Detective Wilden; it looks like Mona is serious about rebuilding her friendship with Hanna.  Jenna paid Emily a visit to inform her that something may happen to her, and if so she wants her to deliver a message to Toby.  She revealed that Detective Wilden saw Alison (Sasha Pieterse) the night she disappeared, but Em spotted a burn mark on Jenna’s arm, just as Jenna’s vision became quite blurry. Just what else does Jenna know that she hasn’t shared with the liars? Spencer spotted Mrs. D watching her from her window, just as “A” sent a text revealing that Wilden’s coffin contains the liars secrets.

The liars attended Wilden’s funeral and spotted a mysterious figure cloaked in all black.  Just who was this woman?  Could it be Alison or someone else? In due time, we will find out.  The liars decided to snoop around to see what could be hiding in Wilden’s coffin.  Aria came face-to-face again with Ezra (Ian Harding) and Maggie.

Spencer eased her way inside the room where Wilden’s coffin was being held, just as Mona entered from a distance.  The frenemies decided to open Wilden’s coffin and discovered a ringing cell phone from KISSES, which turned out to be Ashley’s phone!  What, did she really finish the job that she started?  So many people wanted Wilden dead, so who actually acted on it? Looks like “A” is trying to frame Mrs. Marin for the crime. Alison’s mom asked the girls to sit next to her, just as Jenna arrived at the ceremony.

The liars were still unable to get a read on the mystery woman cloaked in all black.  A flashback between Toby and Alison revealed that the two were close to sharing a kiss, as the audience got its first look at Marion Cavanaugh whose memory was a bit dazzled.  Alison being the mean girl she is took shots at Toby’s vulnerable state of mind.  As the episode wrapped the girls came face-to-face with Officer Roberts (Sean Faris) who was investigating Wilden’s murder and Officer Garrett Reynolds.  He’s quite charming, but appears to have an ulterior motive, time will tell.

“The truth won’t set you free bitches, I’m going to bury you with it,” “A.”  The girls received a video from “A” who recorded everything that took place that night; placing them at the scene of the crime.

The episode concluded with the mysterious figure dressed in all black adding a “Mona” doll to her collection, just as the cloak was pulled back.  The figure was revealed to be wearing a mask that looked just like Alison with burn marks to the left side of the face.  I’m not so sure that “A” and “Red Coat” are the same person; it has to be two different people.  The question is just who.  “Pretty Little Liars” knows how to hook its audience in a way that no other series can.  The summer is here and the lies and secrets are just beginning. “PLL” airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC Family.  Until next week “PLL” fanatics!
