SAN FRANCISCO—On Wednesday, March 29, officers from the San Francisco Police Department arrested Vallejo resident Jonathon Santos, 24, in connection with a shooting in the city’s Taraval District.

Police officers responded to Plymouth Avenue and Broad Street at approximately 10:40 a.m. after being notified of the incident. They discovered several victims including resident and bystander Lian Xiu Wu, 65, who reportedly en route to a bus stop, was lying on the ground at the intersection of the two streets, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Wu was transported to San Francisco General Hospital where she later died from injuries sustained. Her shooting was reportedly the third in 6 months to occur in the Oceanview District at the intersection of Plymouth Avenue and Broad Street.

Two other victims, a 40 year-old man from San Jose and a 51 year-old man from San Francisco, suffered from non-fatal gunshot wounds and were transported to the hospital for treatment. Both are said to be in recovering.

SFPD Investigators located and arrested Santos on the 300 block of Mansell Street around 11:00 a.m. He was charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder. He is being detained at the San Francisco County Jail. Officials have not disclosed any motives for the shooting.

Wu’s nephew, Danny Truong created a GoFundMe account to raise money for funeral expenses and to help her daughter relocate to a “safer home.”

Truong mentioned that his aunt had emigrated to the United States from China 16 years earlier to take care of family members.

“She was like a second mom to all her nieces and nephews and cared selflessly for our grandfather. She worked very hard to bring her daughter to America and it took 14 years before she was finally successful 2 years ago. She was caring, generous, and a well-loved family member who will be greatly missed,” Truong wrote on the fundraising site.
