PINE GROVE—Authorities have named Sean Purdy, 20, as a suspect in the murder of his father, Lance Purdy, 52. On January 1, 2020, at around 4:30 p.m., a woman claiming to be Lance wife contacted authorities and asked for a welfare check after not hearing from her husband.
According to the woman, Lance had flown to check on Sean at their home in Pine Grove, but became worried after not receiving any communication from her husband. A neighbor spotted a “large amount of blood” at the home on Kevkie Ct. and Sean leaving from the area in a hurry driving a 2017 blue Subaru Outback.
Sean led deputies from the Warshoe County Sheriff Department on a 12-hour search from California to Nevada. He was spotted by a witness who gave officials a location where he was later arrested.
The following statement was posted to the Washoe County Police Facebook page on Thursday, January 2:
“WCSO deputies just arrested Amador County fugitive Sean Purdy south of Incline Village. Sheriff Balaam expressed his deep appreciation to all the deputies and investigators from multiple agencies who have tenaciously worked for the safety of the community during the past 12 hours. Amador Sheriff will Provide further about their investigation.”
Sean is currently being held at the Washoe County Jail in Reno, Nevada.
