SAN FRANCISCO—The San Francisco Police Department arrested two suspects in connection to a shooting that occurred on Bay Street on March 24. According to the SFPD, at approximately 2:06 a.m. officers from the Central Police Station responded to the 400 block of Bay Street about a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found a male and female victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers provided medical aid until members from the San Francisco Fire Department arrived on scene. The male victim was taken to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. The female victim, a 26 year-old from San Francisco was transported to a local hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to her leg. The SFPD Night Investigations Unit began an investigation.

At approximately 6:30 a.m., three male subjects walked into SFPD’s Southern Station and informed investigators that they were involved in the incident on Bay Street. Following interviews, investigators concluded that the male shooting victim, Jorge Islas-Garcia, 21, of Oakley and another male, later identified as Shane O’Roark, 20, of San Francisco, robbed the three victims at gunpoint.

The three victims watched Islas-Garcia and O’Roark approach another group and thought that they were getting ready to rob people in that group. When the victims attempted to warn the other group of the impending robbery, Islas-Garcia opened fire on the three victims. One of the victims, who had a gun returned fire, striking Islas-Garcia.

On March 24, at approximately 8:30 p.m., SFPD investigators arrested O’Roark at Central Police Station. O’Roark was booked into County Jail on three counts of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon (firearm), attempted murder, possession of a concealed firearm, negligent discharge of a firearm and conspiracy. Islas-Garcia was booked in absentia on three counts of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon (firearm), attempted murder, possession of a concealed firearm, negligent discharge of a firearm and conspiracy. Due to pending identification matters, booking photos of Islas-Garcia and O’Roark are not being released.
