HOLLYWOOD—The reboot/revamped version of the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” dominated the box-office with a surprising $65 million debut during the three-day weekend. On Friday, the movie opened to huge numbers, over $20 million, which surprised quite a few people.

Last weekend’s champ “Guardians of the Galaxy” dropped close to 50 percent, earning a little over $40 million in its second week. The film has already amounted more than $175 million at the domestic box-office in just under two weeks. It’s safe to say the film will cross the $200 million mark before the end of the week.

Grabbing the #3 spot was the weather flick “Into the Storm” with $18 million. Interesting as I suspected this movie to flop, but it appears weather is always on Americans minds. Landing in the #4 spot was “The Hundred-Foot Journey” with $11.1 million.  Rounding out the top five was “Lucy” which added another $9 million to its tally. The Scarlett Johansson thriller is just $3 million shy from crossing the $100 million mark.

This weekend sees the release of the all-star action flick “The Expendables 3” starring Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Sylvester Stallone, and every action star from the 80s and 90s and 2000s that you can think of.
