Vogelsong Signs With The Giants

SAN FRANCISCO—Ryan Vogelsong is returning to the Bay.

Following a handful of free agency inquires and a visit with the Houston Astros, the right-hander signed a one-year pact with San Francisco worth $4 million, with the potential for an additional $3 million incentive bonus.

As Giants brass figured out how to piece back together their 2014 championship roster, Vogelsong’s courtship with other teams eventually led him back to a new-look Giants team.

Vogelsong returns to San Francisco in 2015 after spending the past four seasons with the Giants, a tenure in which the team has won two World Series championships.

Vogelsong has been on two championship teams in four season with the Giants.

Vogelsong is coming off a solid, if unspectacular 2014, in which he posted a 8-13 record and 4.00 ERA in 32 starts. He is expected to add depth an experience to a rotation that features World Series hero Maddison Bumgarner and recovering ace Matt Cain.

“When a decision came down, everything kept leading me back to San Francisco. It’s where I’m supposed to be,” Vogelsong said. “I’ve always considered myself a Giant. There’s not really any place I’d rather play.”
