SAN FRANCISCO—San Francisco resident Walter Reed Quinn, 45, also known as Walker Reed Quinn, was charged with recurring vandalism on Waymo automous vehicles in the South of Market (SoMa) in San Francisco.
On July 4, 2025 and on July 29, 2025, Quinn placed traffic cones on Waymo sensors, damaging tires and smashing windshield wipers. On August 11, 2025, Quinn smashed in a windshield with a passenger in it.
On August 14, 2025, the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office charged him with three counts of felony vandalism with damages costing less than $400 and one count of misdemeanor vandalism.
From February 2026 to March 2026, court hearings continued regarding Quinn’s mental health and bail status. A judge reviewed his possible release on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. The defendant utilized personal items in addition to traffic cones to damage Waymo’s windshield and vehicle sensors.
