SAN FRANCISCO—Cornerback Will Davis has signed a one-year deal with the 49ers, and the team has waived wide receiver Rashad Ross to make room on the roster.

Davis, a 27 year-old native of Spokane, Washington, stands at 5 feet and 11 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds. Davis played football at De Anza College in Cupertino, California before transferring to Utah State University, with whom he spent two seasons (2011-2012). He finished his collegiate career with 99 interceptions and 5 tackles, having appeared in 26 games (18 of which he started).

Davis was initially drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft (93rd overall), with whom he played two years (2013-2014). In 15 games, he posted 20 tackles (and five on special teams) and three passes defensed. He played two games with the Dolphins in 2015, and was then transferred to the Baltimore Ravens on September 21, 2015.

In two seasons with the Ravens (2015-2016), Davis played in five games and registered five tackles, two passes defended, and one interception. Last season, he played played three games with Baltimore before the team waived him on November 4, 2016.

Ross, 27, a six-foot, 180 pound native of Vallejo, California, signed a Reserve/Future contract with the 49ers in January 2017. The former wide receiver for Arizona State University is currently a free agent.
