SAN FRANCISCO—The San Francisco Police Department has reported that Winston Hue, 67, died after being confronted by officers in connection with the fatal shooting of a 65 year-old woman. The shooting transpired on Friday, January 19 at approximately 4:37 p.m., after officers responded to the 1800 block of 34th Avenue about a shooting, where they found the elderly woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Aid was immediately provided by responding officers, but the victim succumbed to her injuries on the scene.

At 9:48 p.m. on Friday, police officers located a vehicle matching the description of the Blue Kia Sol with CA license plate 5BJY341 driven by Hue. Officers located the vehicle at 47th Avenue and Lincoln Avenue and confirmed that the suspect was armed with a handgun and took steps to contain the area.

According to a press release from the SFPD, hostage negotiators were summoned to the scene, as the subject declined to comply with officers’ orders and appeared to have barricaded himself in the vehicle.
