SAN FRANCISCO—A woman was shot in the face while opening her front door in San Francisco’s Bayview neighborhood at the intersection of Northridge and Harbor roads on Friday, December 30, authorities noted.

According to reports, the victim, a 32-year-old woman heard a knock on her front door at approximately 12:50 a.m. The suspect, a teenage boy between the ages of 15 and 18, fired a handgun at the victim without warning, indicated San Francisco Police Officer Robert Rueca.

“The victim had literally just opened the door, there wasn’t any kind of discussion at the door,” Rueca said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital by San Francisco paramedics where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The San Francisco Police Department are searching for the suspect who matches the description the victim provided. Authorities are searching through video surveillance footage from nearby areas where the shooting transpired.
