SAN FRANCISCO—On Wednesday, May 20, the San Francisco Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect connected to a 2024 murder. The SFPD reported on August 5, 2024, at approximately 5 a.m. officers from Mission Station were in the area of 20th and Shotwell Streets when they were flagged down regarding a shooting.
Officers were informed the suspect brandished a firearm at the victim and assaulted a second victim. Officers canvassed the area and located the victim near the 3300 block of 20th Street, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers provided aid, including cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Paramedics responded to the scene and rendered aid as well, but the victim was pronounced dead on the scene.
The SFPD Homicide Detail responded to the scene and took the lead in the investigation.
Through the course of the investigation, Homicide investigators identified a potential suspect as Darryon Harry Chun, 28, of Daly City. An arrest warrant and search warrant were conducted on Chun’s home on January 23, 2026, with the help of the SFPD Tactical Team. Chun was taken into custody and subsequently released pending further investigation.
Homicide investigators worked to gather additional evidence, and an arrest warrant was issued for Chun on May 5, 2026. On May 19, 2026, the SFPD Tactical Team executed the arrest warrant at Chun’s residence, and he was taken into custody without further incident.
During the search warrant, officers confiscated several firearms, ammunition, and other evidence. Chun was booked into San Francisco County Jail for murder (187(a)PC).
