SAN FRANCISCO—On May 20, the San Francisco Police Department announced that they arrested a prolific gym locker thief this week following a months-long investigation into the thefts.

The suspect burglarized lockers at multiple gyms in San Francisco between November 2025 and March 2026. The SFPD Financial Crimes Unit took the lead in the investigation.

During their investigation, the Financial Crimes Unit learned that the suspect used the same modus operandi (M.O.) across several cases. She would visit gyms and fitness studios and obtain a day pass under a false name to burglarize lockers, stealing credit cards to use prior to the victims knowing their property was stolen.

Investigators worked closely with fitness studios in the Marina District and their members and identified the suspect as Andrania Yancy, 40. Yancy has ties to the Bay Area and stay-away orders from multiple fitness businesses in San Francisco.

On May 18, 2026, SFPD led a multi-agency contingent that included the U.S. Marshals Service Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force (PSWRFTF), which located Yancy in Sacramento and took her into custody. She was booked at the San Francisco County Jail for nine warrants for burglaries committed in San Francisco, El Cerrito, Berkeley, Santa Clara, Oakley, San Mateo County, Contra Costa County, and Orange County.

The SFPD is still investigating the case. Anyone with details should call the SFPD at 1-415-575-4444 or Text-A-Tip to TIP411, beginning your message with SFPD.
