SAN FRANCISCO—On Tuesday, June 16, after 14 years of working at KGO-TV/ABC 7 in San Francisco as news director and a total of 20 years at the station, Vice President of News Tracey Watkowski Silva, who resides in Oakland, has decided to leave the television company.

From June 1989 to January 1991, Watkowski was Associate Producer at CNN/Headline News in Atlanta, Georgia. From January 1991 to July 1992, she was News Producer at WKRC-TV (Local 12) became the Executive Producer of WCAU-TV at NBC10 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

From 1999 to 2006, she started at KGO-TV as an Assistant News Director in San Francisco. From 2006 to 2012, she made the transition to KFSN-TV (ABC30) in Fresno, becoming its News Director. In the new role, she jumpstarted the station’s 4 p.m. news broadcast.

On Wednesday, March 28, 2012, she moved back to the Bay Area where she became Vice President of News and News Director at KGO-TV/ABC7 of San Francisco. From 2019 to 2020, she helped to pave the way for ABC7 news to win the Northern California National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) Emmy for Station and News Excellence.
