SAN FRANCISCO—On Monday, July 13, the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office disclosed that Nanette Musto, 51, a deputy with the San Francisco Sheriff’s Office, was charged in connection to an incident that occurred in San Francisco County Jail #2. Musto is scheduled to be arraigned on July 14, 2026, at 9 a.m. in Department 17 at the Hall of Justice. She is charged with battery (PC 242) and one misdemeanor count of assault by a public officer (PC 149).

According to court documents, on July 12, 2025, while on duty at County Jail No. 2 and apparently due to rumors being spread by other jail inmates, Deputy Nanette Musto asked a female inmate whether she had surgically augmented her body. Upon receiving the inmate’s answer, Deputy Musto reached out and, without permission or lawful necessity, touched the inmate’s breast. The incident was captured on jail surveillance footage, caused the inmate to feel humiliated and embarrassed.
