SAN FRANCISCO—Chicken G’s, a halal chicken sandwich restaurant, at 346 Kearney Street in San Francisco’s Downtown Financial District (FiDi) was temporarily closed since last Thursday, September 5, 2025, due to a routine health inspection report with San Francisco Department of Public Health, resulting in Chicken G’s restaurant being filled with ‘active’ rodent infestation.
The San Francisco Public Health Inspectors discovered that there were rodent droppings throughout Chicken G’s restaurant area. There were rodent droppings on the kitchen floor, under beverage dispensers, on flour bags in the basement area and in other areas within Chicken G’s restaurant. There were rodent droppings on shelves with sodas, to-go bags on the kitchen floor and inside a walk-in cooler.
On Monday, September 8, 2025, the exterior of Chicken G’s restaurant is still closed. It has not been reinspected yet.
In order to reopen, Chicken G’s restaurant is required to hire a licensed pest control operator to clean and sanitize the restaurant and seal all gaps more than a quarter-inch. They also must have copies of food safety certificates and handlers as requested by the health department.
