SAN FRANCISCO—On Friday, May 16, Abraham Torres, 44, was charged by the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office with a fatal shooting with an allegation that he personally and intentionally used a firearm in the commission of the murder (PC 12022.53(d)), and possession of a firearm by a felon (PC 29800(a)(1)).
Torres is currently in custody and the SF District Attorney’s Office moved to have him detained pending trial due to the public safety risk he poses.
The San Francisco Police Department noted that on May 14, at approximately 1:11 p.m., officers responded to the area of Columbus Avenue and Northpoint Street regarding a shooting. While enroute, officers learned that an unknown male subject was inside of his vehicle when he shot at another occupied vehicle and fled from the region.
Officers arrived on scene and canvassed the area for any victims, suspects and witnesses. While officers were conducting their preliminary investigation, officers learned that the suspect turned himself in at SFPD Central station. Officers developed probable cause and placed Torres under arrest.
