HOLLYWOOD─For the third consecutive weekend, Martin Lawrence and Will Smith have dominated the box-office with their third installment in the “Bad Boys” franchise. “Bad Boys for Life” remained in the top spot hauling in over $17 million edging it just mere millions from crossing the $150 million mark at the domestic box-office.
The war flick “1917” continues to dazzle audiences with the Academy Awards less than a week away with $9.7 million. Since its release on January 10, the movie directed by Oscar-winner Sam Mendes has earned over $119 million at the domestic box-office
Landing in third place was “Dolittle” with $7.7 million to bring its cumulative tally to just over $55 million. Many has already pegged the remake a box-office flop, but its apparent audiences are still interested in seeing the movie. However, its budget would say otherwise. The horror flick “Gretel and Hansel” debuted in fourth place with $6.1 million, while “The Gentlemen” rounded out the top five with just over $6 million.
The Blake Lively starrer “The Rhythm Section” was dead on arrival with a dry $2.8 million haul. Not good for a movie that opened in more than 3000 theaters. With January over, the slate of those last minute studio flicks or as I call them (not the best in the bunch) over, February kicks off with the release of “Birds of Prey” with Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) getting her own spinoff. I think it’s safe to say that “Bad Boys for Life” might finally get dethroned from the top spot at the box-office.
