Bomb Squad Responds To Package

SAN FRANCISCO—The San Francisco Police Department bomb team was sent into the city’s Inner Richmond neighborhood following reports of a suspicious package found on the sidewalk of the 3600 block of Geary Avenue.

Law enforcement responded to the location of the suspicious box at 3:15 p.m. on Monday, February 2 resulting in a detouring of traffic between Geary and Arguello Boulevards while bomb experts performed an investigation.

Muni’s route 38 Geary bus was re-directed, during the emergency investigation.

After it was determined that the package was in fact empty, private and public transportation routes re-opened.

Monday bomb scare was the second of the day in San Francisco, after Jose Ortega Elementary School received a bomb threat just before classes began.
