HOLLYWOOD—Marvel had another big weekend at the box-office. The first female-driven Marvel flick, “Captain Marvel” rose to the top spot of the box-office with an impressive $153 million. That marks the highest debut of 2019 so far, expect that number to be dethroned by “Avengers: End Game” which arrives in theaters next month. On a global scale, “Captain Marvel” continued to impress with $302 million. It’s safe to argue that “Captain Marvel” is likely to dominate the box-office next weekend people.

Dropping to second place was “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” with $14.7 million. After close to a month in theaters, the animated adventure has crossed the $100 million mark at the domestic box-office with a tally of $119 million. Falling to third place was Tyler Perry’s “A Madea Family Funeral” with $12 million. After just 10 days in theaters, the comedy has already earned over $45 million at the box-office.

Nabbing fourth place was the sequel “The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part” with $3.8 million, while “Alita: Battle Angel” landed in fifth place with $3.2 million. With no major films arriving in theaters, until Jordan Peele’s horror flick, “Us,” expect “Captain Marvel” to remain on top.
